Duty of Candour

Additional Information

Lica Homecare Ltd Duty of Candour Report 1st April 2024 – 31st of March 2025

A NULL REPORT

All health and social care services in Scotland have a duty of candour. This is a legal requirement which means that when things go wrong and mistakes happen, the people affected understand what has happened, receive an apology, and that organisations learn how to improve for the future. An important part of this duty is that we provide an annual report about the duty of candour in our service. This short report describes how our care service has operated the duty of candour during the time from the 1st of April 2024 and the 31st of March 2025.

How many incidents happened to which the duty of candour applies?

In the last year, there have been no accidents or incidents to which the duty of candour applied.

Information about our policies and procedures

Where something has happened that triggers the duty of candour, our care staff have been trained to report this to the Registered Manager who has responsibility for ensuring that the duty of candour procedure is followed. The Registered Manager will keep a written record of all accidents and incidents which occur during the process of providing and carrying out care within the community. The Registered Manager will also report these accidents and incidents (when appropriate) to the Care Inspectorate.

At Lica Homecare we value honesty and transparency amongst all else, with this in mind when we do make a mistake or an error we take this very seriously and follow our reporting procedures. We are all too aware of the worry and stress which a mistake can cause for our service users, the service users family and our staff team. We will always aim to minimise any worry and stress caused by a mistake we have made and we do this by encouraging face to face meetings between the affected parties and ourselves as a homecare provider.
